Day Job opportunity!: Alameda County Registrar of Voters


The Alameda County Registrar of Voters (ROV) is seeking your assistance with recruiting Student Poll Workers in preparation for the upcoming General Election on Tuesday, November 4, 2014. The Registrar of Voters look forward to collaborating efforts with Oakland Unity High School by providing voter education, early registration for 17 year old students who turn 18 on or before Election Day, and the ability to be a part of the Election process.

The County needs 6,000 Poll Workers to serve in approximately 800 polling places. Any help that you can provide would be of great value, as students are often the most helpful and enthusiastic poll workers, and those students who serve as poll workers report they learn about the importance of participating in an election despite not yet being eligible to vote.

Oakland Unity High School students would benefit immensely from the experience of being an Election Official in as much as their service: entitles them to a stipend up to $125(Bilingual Poll Workers), appends work experience to their resumes, forges a closer connection and develops networks with fellow community members, and creates a sense of fulfillment through civic duty.

Eligible High School Student Poll Workers; (Especially Bilingual Students who are fluent in English and one of the following: (Chinese, Hindi, Japanese, Khmer, Korean, Spanish, Tagalog, and Vietnamese)
  • Age 16 years old on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 Election
  • U.S. Citizen
  • 2.5 out of 4.0 GPA
  • Parent/Guardian Approval
  • Administrator/Teacher Approval
