NEW AMERICAN SCHOLARS PROGRAM
OVERVIEW AND ELIGIBILITY


E4FC's New American Scholars Program provides financial awards and support services to low-income immigrant undergraduate and graduate students who live or attend school in the San Francisco Bay Area. We provide scholarships of up to $5,000 to cover tuition and other expenses. Scholars are selected for their academic excellence, financial need, community impact, and potential contribution to the E4FC community. Scholars are expected to participate in E4FC programming, events, and activities for the year.

ELIGIBILITY:
  • Foreign-born
  • Financial need
  • Do not have permanent residency (green card) or citizenship in the US
  • Current or intended enrollment in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program for 2014-2015
  • Minimum GPA requirement:
    • For high school students: 3.3 cumulative high school GPA
    • For undergraduate/graduate students: 3.0 cumulative college GPA
  • Demonstrated academic preparation and community/extracurricular involvement
  • Residency requirements:
    • You must have lived in California for two or more years of your high school career
    • You must fulfill at least one of the following:
      1. previous or intended graduation from a San Francisco Bay Area high school, or
      2. current or expected enrollment in a San Francisco Bay Area college or university
    • We define San Francisco Bay Area as the following 11 counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano, Sonoma, and Yolo.
